Changes in Attitude

Turns out you can see Devils Tower/Bear Lodge from a fair distance away, as it plays peekaboo with the foothills. Our first glimpse went like this:

Scott (pointing excitedly): “There it is!”
Amy: Whoo.

Scott had been dimly aware this wasn’t high atop Amy’s wish list for the trip but the enthusiasm was truly underwhelming. Onward we pressed. Amy was enjoying the landscape enough to make this pointless side journey worth her while.

Amy now says: This is a must-see. Do not, repeat, do not, skip Devils Tower/Bear Lodge. The tower itself is amazingly beautiful, the walk around the base, especially early in the morning, filled with beautiful vistas and wildlife, and the red cliffs in the area awe-inspiring.
