Hey Gearheads
Anyone out there know what we can expect for MPG on a Chrysler Sebring? Neither of us can seem to find this information in the owner’s manual. (Is this a bad sign?)
And those of you who routinely let their cars shift gears for them (boy do we miss our stick shifts) . . . what’s the difference between D and 3 (and L for that matter)? When should we be in one as opposed to the other? Feel free to use the comment option below to reply.

Thanks Ryan! We appreciate the info! We gassed up in Laramie (only put 6 gallons in Thor but we didn’t know how long it’d be til we found more gas) and figured we’d gotten just over 28 MPG. So right on I suppose.
Another question for anyone out there . . . how much does using the A/C hurt the mileage? I believe it’s more fuel efficient than opening windows at highway speeds, right? And does it matter if the A/C is blasting or just barely on?

The A/C compressor is really the thing doing all the work. It's driven off of a belt and a clutch will engage to make it start. The clutch is controlled by the temperature selected in the car. So running it blasting just means you have your inside fan running higher.
You can hear the clutch engage an disengage at idle. When it's engaged, it uses horsepower from the engine that might normally go to the drive train.
I've read that you will lose some mpg, but not as much as having the windows open.
